Patriotic Party Dip Recipe
When you are throwing a party or celebration for a larger group, something that is always popular and feeds a lot of people is a layered dip. Plus you can pack on the veggies! We specifically chose the layers of this dip because we wanted it to look like an American flag, but if you want your dip to resemble something different, there are so many options! This is a really fun Patriotic Party Dip Recipe for a 4th of July celebration and adds to your decor. (until people eat it!)

Begin by spreading refried beans as your first layer. We love beans as our base because they provide protein, fiber, and lots of B vitamins. The amount you use, will depend on the size of crowd you are feeding. We used 2 cans of refried beans for our dip, and this made a 12×18 tray and will feed a lot of people.

Next is guacamole. The recipe we love to use is from our meal plans. You can check out our recipe here. You will need about 1 1/2 – 2 cups depending on how thick you like your guacamole.

This next layer can be done a few different ways. You can mix:
4 oz cream cheese + 8 oz plain yogurt (or sour cream) + 2-3 Tbsp taco seasoning
or
1 – 1 1/2 cups Jalapeno yogurt dip (see picture below)

Sprinkle cheese on the entire thing. Normally I just sprinkle a cheese blend over the yogurt layer, but I needed a white base for my flag.

Then the fun part is creating the flag! In the corner add rows olives sliced in half to resemble the stars. Then take grape or cherry tomatoes and place in rows to look like stripes. For a quick way to slice tomatoes in half, check out our fast kitchen tips post.

A great thing about this dip, is that it can be made the day before your party, leaving you time to do other things the day of. Serve with blue corn chips for a great addition to your 4th of July celebrations!

What kind of cheese?
Made this per the recipe. In the size pan suggested layers are very thin. Spreading the cream cheese/yogurt layer is difficult (it is thicker; I even warmed it some to thin) and blends in with guacamole, etc. Won’t be serving until tomorrow…will see how it goes over to party goers.
Oh darn – I hope it worked out for you!
Looks exactly like the picture! So excited to bring it to the party today! I just used a blend of white cheeses. Also used a 13 x 9 pyrex dish. Happy 4th!
Yay! So glad it worked out for you.
Do you need to hear up the beans first or serve cold
We serve this cold.
Does the guacamole turn brown if you make it the day before?
Hi Sara! It might not look as perfectly green on day two, but if you press a piece of plastic wrap up against the guacamole before putting it in the fridge, it should stay looking pretty good.
