How to Make Fudgesicles

Making fudgesicles is so much easier than I would have ever thought. You will only need about 5 minutes hands on time to makes these.  Literally all you do is blend coconut milk, cocoa powder, honey and peanut butter together.  

Making your own treats at home allows kids to feel like they can eat sweet things, and also provides a way for you to control ingredients and boost nutrition in the foods they love to eat! These are sweetened with a small amount of honey, and the sugar content per pop is quite low.  These are a great way to satisfy your kids’ sweet tooth while helping them develop a taste for things that are less sweet.

What is a Fudgesicle Made Of?

The chocolate flavor in these fudgesicles comes from cocoa powder. I love using cocoa powder because it provides a chocolatey flavor in recipes, and also has health benefits.  Just 1 tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa powder contains a significant amount of iron, manganese, magnesium and zinc. What do these minerals do for us?

  • Iron helps make red blood cells and is essential for your immune system.
  • Manganese is a component of enzymes that form cartilage and bones, metabolize nutrients and function as antioxidants inside every cell in your body.
  • Magnesium helps produce energy and maintain a normal heart rhythm.
  • Zinc is vital for the production and development of new cells, including immune system cells. Without enough zinc, the number of bacteria-fighting cells goes down and you become more susceptible to illness.

We added peanut butter to this version to make them extra smooth and creamy with added protein. Plus – peanut butter and chocolate are made to go with each other!

This recipe calls for coconut milk because it freezes so much smoother than regular milk. You can definitely substitute whole milk instead if you prefer!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 3 tablespoon cocoa powder, unsweetened
  • 3 tablespoon honey
  • 3 tablespoon peanut butter, all-natural

Instructions

  • Blend all ingredients together in a high powered blender.
  • Pour into popsicle molds.  Freeze for 4-6 hours until solid. Enjoy!

I just ordered the Zoku pop maker yesterday. I can’t WAIT to get it in the mail and try this out. Today is the last day of school for my kiddos so this could be a yummy way to start out the summer this weekend. 😉

Quick question…do you think I could use Almond milk instead of coconut?

Have you ever used PB2? I just bought some and haven’t used it yet. I wondered if it would work in this recipe.

Stop it! First creamsicles and now pb/chocolate. My childhood favourites. The creamsicles were a hit with the family and I’ll be making these tomorrow.

OMG!…they look amazing….but I don’t even want to know how may calories/much fat!!!
But as you don’t say…..there is no real point finding out…I reckon a couple of carrots worth should cover it !!
…..is it wrong to say they are lamost too good for the kids!! Bad me!

Is that the dehydrated peanut butter? I have never tried it, but you definitely could. I’m just not sure on ratios. I think it would work just fine though because the peanut butter is mostly for flavor. Let me know if you do and how it turns out!

They definitely are not low calorie. You can substitute the canned coconut milk for almond milk, or probably even coconut water if you are watching calories.

Just made these and can’t wait for them to freeze! I love the combination of ingredients you came up with, Natalie! (Of course, I like all of your popsicle recipes you’ve shared) 🙂

Did you use regular or light coconut milk? Also, has anyone tried this with cow’s milk? How’d it turn out?

I used regular coconut milk. I am sure you could use light coconut milk though. If you try it with cow’s milk let us know how they turn out!

Hi just found this! Sounds brilliantly yummy! I am allergic to honey, with what could I substitute that?

I see it says 1 can of coconut milk, am i able to use just 13oz of my So Delisious Coconut milk out of the carton? Or does it need to be the canned milk?

OH MY GOSH I got a Zoku and returned it because I could NOT get the pops out. I just tried it with water, lime juice and stevia.. I read that sweeteners may make it difficult, but after that experience, it wasn’t worth it! Are there any secrets to using it?? I have to be able to use Stevia for crying out loud..lol

I made these today. I didn’t have any coconut milk, so I used skim cow’s milk, dark chocolate cocoa, and I added a little more honey, because the cow’s milk lacks the sweetness of coconut milk.
DELICIOUS!!!

Would you be able to leave the peanut butter out? My son has an allergy and haven’t tried any other nut butters just to be on the safe side.
I also scored my Zoku (3 pop) at Marshall’s for $30! I think they had the 2 pop maker as well.

I just tried this with some leftover berry compote, mixed it with the can of coconut milk, 3 T cocoa and 2 T honey. The berries already had honey blended in with them. They were amazing I must say! What a great base for popsicles!

I made these twice, once with light coconut milk and once with soy milk. Both worked. The soy milk will not produce a creamy texture. I added two bananas to make them healthier – delicious!

I had the same exact problem. I couldn’t get the Popsicle to come out. Normally I never have a problem with the Zoku at all – using fruit or regular milk. I would like to know too if there’s a trick to removing them. They just never harden. I even left them over night in the Zoku container, still no luck.

I honestly have never had a problem with my zoku and have made hundreds of pops in it. I almost never add sweetener though. When I make my pops, they are usually just fruit with the the exception of this one! Sorry you had a bad experience.

Sounds yummy! I’ll pour the batter in ice cube trays, and then put it through my champion juicer for soft serve. I do that with frozen berries coconut milk and honey.
