Ingredients
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 8 slice thick bread challah, brioche or sourdough
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 cup berries strawberries, blueberries, raspberries
- powdered sugar for dusting
- maple syrup
Instructions
- Whisk the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon together in a wide, shallow container.
- Heat large skillet or griddle, and melt butter.
- Dip both sides of the bread in the egg mixture, ensuring it gets completely coated. Allow excess to drip off.
- Place the bread on the hot skillet, and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown. Add more butter to the skillet as needed.
- Serve warm topped with fresh berries, a dusting of powdered sugar, and maple syrup if desired.
Notes
Prep Tips: Use day-old bread for better absorption of the egg mixture. If using fresh bread, lightly toast it first to prevent sogginess.
Storage: Best served fresh, but leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 2 days. Reheat in a toaster oven or skillet for best results.
