This classic French Toast recipe is simple but decadent. Flavored with cinnamon and vanilla, we fry it up in butter to give it a deliciously golden crunch.
Whisk the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon together in a wide, shallow container.
Heat large skillet or griddle, and melt butter.
Dip both sides of the bread in the egg mixture, ensuring it gets completely coated. Allow excess to drip off.
Place the bread on the hot skillet, and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown. Add more butter to the skillet as needed.
Serve warm topped with fresh berries, a dusting of powdered sugar, and maple syrup if desired.
Notes
Prep Tips: Use day-old bread for better absorption of the egg mixture. If using fresh bread, lightly toast it first to prevent sogginess.Storage: Best served fresh, but leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 2 days. Reheat in a toaster oven or skillet for best results.
