How to Make Kiwi Sorbet

Making sorbet at home is incredibly easy, even though it sounds fancy. For most fruit sorbets, it is best to use fruit that is very ripe because it has the highest natural sugar content. For this Kiwi Sorbet, if you use kiwis that aren’t very ripe, the sorbet will be really sour! We like to wait until our kiwis are almost to the point where they are too mushy to eat and then we know they are perfect for this recipe!

Step 1: Peel and slice your kiwis. The easiest way to peel a kiwi is to:

  • Slice of the ends
  • Run a spoon right under the skin all the way around the kiwi
  • Slice into even pieces

Step 2: Freeze kiwi slices. Lay slices flat on a tray and freeze for about an hour. If you freeze longer than that, it will be harder to blend them in your food processor.

Step 3: Blend. We like to use a food processor for this recipe to combine everything. It makes the mixture smooth and creamy and is really fast.

After you blend you can serve your sorbet right then! It will be the perfect consistency to eat. Frozen, but soft enough to scoop and serve.

We buy a lot of our produce from a program called Bountiful Baskets and lately we’ve been getting a lot of kiwi. My husband and son will just cut them in half and eat them with a spoon so I think this is a great recipe to try out on them. Thank you! 🙂

Definitely! I think it would be good with peaches, raspberries, and even watermelon. If your fruit is really sweet, I would add less honey.

I just made this for 3 toddlers and they gobbled it up. Delicious! I poured the extra into popsicle containers for later. Thanks for sharing this recipe.

Every half hour or so stir and back in freezer. Also if for adults you can add a bit of alcohol to keep it from freezing hard. And you can cut and scoop kiwi instead of peeling, much less waste and easier.

Thank you for the tip on re-blending for a smoother consistency! It was too icy before that step. Delicious!

What a great recipe, and so easy to imagine substitutions for future experiments. We did find it overly sweet, and I would recommend starting with less honey then adding to taste. Thank you for sharing!

This was delicious! I like tartness so I cut the amount of honey in half. Will definitely make again!

Loved the inspiration and adapted to what I had on hand. I didn’t freeze the kiwis so I added frozen pineapple and coconut sugar. I will freeze the kiwis next time I make it. Thanks for the recipe inspo

I have everything I need need to make this delicious sounding sorbet including 8 very ripe kiwi fruit.

No coconut milk but what do you think about Trader Joe’s coconut milk creamer?

Let me know soon please. Kiwis need to be used in the next TWO days.

Thanks,

I made this recipe! It turned out really well! I would definitely recommend the recipe if you have plenty of kiwis to hand and want something sweet and easy.

I used maple syrup for I have no honey this time and sprinkle macapuno preserves (young fresh coconut shredded in bottles bought at the Asian store) on top of the sorbet instead of sprinkles, the children made their own choices of leche flan (egg custard, the other one loved his apricot jam on top while I simply loved sliced bananas.
