If there ever were a food shortage, you are all welcome to come to my house to get some wheat! We bought over 300 lbs a few years back, and I think we’ll have enoughfor our family, plus the entire state of Utah! I don’t have my own wheat grinder, but I can borrow my mother in law’s when I need to make some flour, otherwise, we use whole wheat for three other reasons.
Wheat kernels can be very inexpensive to buy. Instead of ground into flour, you can buy the entire kernel, like this:
Using the wheat to make pancakes in a blender is super easy, and the result is fluffy – amazing pancakes!
Step 1) Gather ingredients:
The ingredients: Wheat, Milk, Honey, Salt, Eggs, Baking Powder, and Oil
Step 2) Blend
Blend only 1 cup wheat kernels and 1 cup milk, on high, for several minutes, until batter is smooth
Add remaining ingredients and blend again, just for a few seconds, until all the ingredients are incorporated.
Step 3) Cook
I like to use a measuring cup, in order to make all the pancakes fairly similar in size, and I think the 1/4 cup is the perfect size! Sometimes we like mini, and in those cases, I’ll use a tablespoon.
Once your pancakes begin to bubble on top, they are ready to flip!
This recipe make 10 pancakes.
Hands down, my kids who likes pancakes more than life itself, asks for them on every birthday, and makes them most weekends is my 14 year old, Nate. He would eat pancakes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!
I like pancakes because they are a great vehicle for any fruit that is in season!
So, we added kiwi and bananas to these pancakes, and they were perfect! No need for syrup!
