Whole Wheat Pasta
Your kids want to know why you haven’t made the switch to whole grain pasta. Did you try it once and decide you didn’t like it? Try again, try different brands. And then make it taste good!
A delicious white sauce on whole wheat noodles can not be beat. My basic recipe is:
- 2 TBL Butter
- 2 TBL flour
- 1/2 cup evaporated milk
- 1/2 cup water
- salt and pepper
You can add more milk and water for a thinner consistency, or more flour and butter for a thicker sauce. Much better than a store bought jar. And 2 TBL of butter for an entire pot of noodles is not too shabby either.
This is one I promise your kids will like and not even notice the noodles are whole wheat.

I recently started using a spiralizer to make raw noodles from zucchini and other various vegtables. It works great and the nutrition and health benefits are even better than whole wheat pasta! If you let the kids spiralize thier own noodles (with you there of course) they may take to it better.
