I purchased a bunch of grapes a few days back, and although my kids love grapes, they wouldn’t eat them!! They thought they were too sour, and they were actually right! But there is no way I was going to let my new goal of “waste no produce in March” be lost with grapes!! I can see us wasting spinach or asparagus, but grapes? Forget about it! These grapes had potential, and I was determined to find a way to make them delicious!

So, I decided to freeze them and make smoothies. A funny thing happened in the process. After freezing the grapes, they seemed sweeter! I don’t know if it was my imagination, but the juicy, fresh, grapes were so sour that it gave you the sour face. The frozen grapes, not at all! To freeze grapes, first get out a cookie sheet, lined with wax paper.

Let your kids pull all the stems off.

Then put in the freezer for 6-8 hours, or until the grapes are frozen enough to dump into a bag, without freezing together in a clump.

Once we had some frozen grapes, I asked our Facebook readers what would be a good grape smoothie combo. We had some awesome replies that I posted at the end!
The smoothie I ended up making was simple, yet so yummy we thought we were eating ice cream!
It was:
- 2 cups frozen grapes
- 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt
- 2/3 cup water
Blend until smooth!

Oh man! We might never eat fresh grapes again!

Green grapes are a great food to add to your kids diet! They are high in fiber, low in calories, and full of antioxidants!W
