We love to find easy to follow recipes kids can try at home but every now and then I like to find easy recipes that parents can try at home they their kids will love.
I think I must be on an “orange” kick lately. Maybe as a native of Florida, it’s my way of connecting to my love natural of citrus. On my last post, I shared a recipe for Orange Apple Cider and now this recipe for Honey Orange Roasted Carrots.
First, scrub peel & slice the carrots. I like slicing carrots into sticks because my kids think that it is fun to eat them like fries. Lay the sliced on a rimmed baking sheet in a single layer.
Add the orange zest and olive oil to the carrots. Then mix the honey and orange juice and pour in the pan. I also added orange slices from a second orange to the pan.
Finally, add thyme along with salt & pepper then place in a pre-heated oven at 375 degrees for 30 minutes or until tender. Although I decided to make this dish for my family, this recipe was so easy that next time I will let my little chef give it a try. Kids are more likely to eat the foods they make and cooking with your kids makes for great bonding moments.

Honey Orange Roasted Carrots
- 1 pound carrot
- 2 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon orange zest
- 1/3 cup orange juice
- 1 medium orange
- 2 tablespoon honey
- 1/2 teaspoon thyme, dried
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper, ground
- Pre-heat oven to 375° F.
- Peel and slice carrots. Grate orange peel. Preserve slices.
- On a large rimmed baking sheet, arrange carrots & sliced oranges in single layer.
- Add 2 tablespoons olive oil, orange peel, thyme and salt & pepper. Mix honey and orange juice then pour over carrots & oranges. Cover with foil and roast for 30 – 35 minutes. You can choose to remove the foil after 15 minutes to allow more browning.
