Healthy Halloween Mummy Tray

I always love the little mummy appetizers, when you wrap a little hot dog with some biscuit dough.  But any time we can replace a food with a fruit or vegetable and have it be fun for kids, we will!  So, I present you our “Healthified” Mummy tray- with baby carrots!

Healthy Halloween Mummy Tray. The busy Mummy's way to a festive snack!

This simple appetizer is a favorite with my kids.  Not only do they love baby carrots dipped in homemade ranch dressing, but the little bit of cheese melted around the carrots as a wrap is a bonus!

Here is how we did it.  We sliced mozzarella cheese into thin strips.

Then, we arranged carrots on a tray, and draped the cheese over the carrots.  Warm-ish or at least room temperature cheese works best, as very cold cheese is brittle and more breakable.  This part let the kids do! It not only doesn’t have to be perfect, but the more imperfect the better! Let them be creative.

Then we placed them on baking mats and tossed it in the oven at 400 degrees for about 5 minutes, just long enough for the cheese to melt around the carrots.

With our cheese melted, we dabbled some ranch, using a toothpick on the mummies to give them little peering eyes.
