TJ loved them! In fact, I could barely keep him away from them while I tried to get some photos!
I mixed in some coconut for a little “Almond Joy” Snack.

I love love LOVE this idea for a healthy, tasty snack! I’m going to use this for a ladies party I’m having later this week!
You read my mind! Just yesterday I was hoping to find a “Roasted” Almond type recipe. I LOVE candied nuts! Thank you so much!
What a great idea! I’m going to make this for my little sister today.. thanks!
my goodness, I love almonds and these look so yummy! What a fun snack to get the kids involved in the kitchen 🙂
I just discovered your blog and I love it. I think we all need to pay much closer attention to our kids’ eating habits and nutrition. Have you heard of a Bear Balanced Belly? It’s a new health nutrition toy that helps both kids and parents think more about what we out into our bodies and my kids love using it. Check it out http://www.bearybalanced.com. I got one for each of my children to help us start the school year off on a healthy start!
We recently discovered cocoa almonds – but the store bought ones from Emerald. They are so yummy and have only 1g of sugar, but I think I would love the homemade version even more. Will definitely give it a try soon.
That is exactly why I tried to make these! We bought some of those emerald ones this summer and LOVED them! But, I couldn’t figure out how to do a powdery chocolate like they did, or how to get it to stick to the nuts. Any ideas?
Yum, yum, yum! Can’t wait to give this a try!
[…] Chocolate Covered Almonds […]
Great recipe. lovely photos. I just love the combo of almonds and “chocolate” – unsweetened cocoa works just fine to me! : )
Could you do this without the sugar? It seems to be lots of sugar. I eat almonds all the time
If you like the taste of dark (like 100% chocolate) that you would like it like that for sure!
.. or you could reduce the sugar. It’s definitely a dessert though, and you still wouldn’t want to eat more than 1 ounce at a time!
[…] found this recipe here and just knew I had to try […]
Oh that looks so tempting, thanks for sharing.
Howdy! I’m at work browsing your blog from my new

What could you use insted of egg whites?
Thank you Amy for an awesome recipe. We are pure vegetarians, hence can you suggest a replacement for egg in the recipe.
Would love to give this a go, my daughter loves her dark chocolate but could I substitute the egg as we are vegetarian ?? Thanks for sharing, your recipes are very inspiring!
@kara, Kinjal, and Soneshree- Although I’ve never tried it, you could see if a vegan butter would be enough to make the cocoa stick to your almonds.
If you do, please let me know how they turn out as many people want to know!!
3/4 cup granulated sugar??!!
Did I read that right?! That’s a lot of sugar!!! I am really surprised to find that much sugar in a recipe on this website !!
Kathy- I actually have a sugar-free one here: https://www.superhealthykids.com/sugar-free-cinnamon-pecans/
Great Recipes
Great recipe but the amount of sugar is a bit of a turn off
