Birthday Party Fruit Cake

fruit party cake

Of course all I had to do was use:

  • 2-4 pineapple rings (from a can)
  • watermelon cut into rings
  • small slice of banana (to hold the candle)
  • 1 candle
pineapple watermelon cake

Adorable, right?  I got the idea from Produce for Kids, who right now has a bunch of easy recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks; all using produce of course!  These “Ideal Meals” are part of a new campaign to help kids eat healthy, as well as donate money to the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.  Between May and July, by purchasing produce at participating stores, a portion of your money will be donated to local children’s hospitals.

Other produce for kids recipes I like include:

  • The party cake I made
  • Super Duper Oatmeal Pancakes
  • Veggie Frittata and Raspberry Plum Yogurt Parfait
  • Peach and Tomato Salsa

…and tons of more delicious fruits and veggie ideas that your kids will love!

the guacamole tomato boats look so fun! my twins just love anything that they can help mash up and if it is green all the better!

Fruity Vanilla Oatmeal sounds Yum. And what is it about having fruit on a stick anyway? LOL Kids love it.

This is awesome! Not only do they supply with a healthy food item but then give you sides to put with it! Love it! I am always looking for a healthier option to PIZZA! (We would eat for every meal at my house.) So I would definately have to say the Pita Pizz-Ahhh!

I am a big snacker. I can’t go more than 2 hrs without eating, so I have to be thoughtful about my snacks to ensure a healthy day of eating. I think that making smoothie pops would be a great summer treat! or dessert 🙂

How exciting! I love find new recipes on-line. I think the tropical smoothie & breakfast pizza sounds awesome and it’s something I can tackle! TFS

What a great collection of fun recipes. I would like to try the Nacho Same Ol Snack and the Tomato and Cheese sandwiches.

All of them look delicious. Thank you for sharing the site! Since my husband recently went deep sea fishing and we now have a bunch of fish chopped up in the freezer, I would have to say that the Orange Salsa Tilapia is one that we will definitely be trying! Mmm!

Thanks for the new site! I am always looking for new recipes to try. I will definitely be trying the PB Fruit Roll Up. My son is on a PB&J kick and I want to change it up a bit.

Thanks!

Thank you for sharing! I would first try Oven Baked Onion Rings & Chicken, since I like feeding my husband healthier versions of the “naughty” foods he likes.

I want to try the Lemon-Broccoli Fettucine, but sooooo many of the recipes look delicious. Thanks for sharing!

I want to give the Beany Cheese-tada. I think my daughter would really like that for lunch.

Oh oh! I want to try the Breakfast Tacos and Tarts…but honestly there were SO MANY! Thanks for sharing!

I fell in love with this site immediately! I am so glad you shared it with us! I think the tropical chicken with watermelon salad looks super interesting. We tend to get into meal ruts and eat the same things over and over. This looks like an awesome way to mix things up a bit!

I like the PB&J Roll-Up…always looking for ways to make PB&J more fun and this should do it. Also like being able to cut it into bite-sized portions which makes it easier to eat at school and on the run!

I’ve got to make that Pita Pizz-Ahhh! I just barely discovered pita bread and my kids have been begging me to buy it again. Now I have a great excuse. Great resource, Amy. Do you think Brian would mind if I served that pineapple ring cake for his birthday next week? 😉

Creamy Chocolate dippers sound like a delicious snack. Easy, too. I usually have all those ingredients in my house.

mmmmm….i like the breakfast potatoes recipe because my daughter has to eat gluten free and that really puts a limit on power packed breakfasts without getting into a rut! these would be so tasty…and much fresher than the frozen kind:)

What a great website! I think we’d have to start with something really tempting like the Creamy Chocolate Dippers here!

I am going to try the Greek Penne Pasta with Shrimp – we do a similar meal with rice, but I would never have thought to try it with pasta and shrimp! Thanks!

What a cute cake. I think we’d love the smoothie pops as a healthy and delicious alternative to the colored, sugar popsicles all around.

Watermelon does not last long in our household, I would try the tropical chicken and watermelon salad, it sounds delicious!

I can’t wait to try the breakfast pizza! My kids aren’t that into plain eggs, so I am excited to try something new with them.

Wow, looks like there are lots of yummy new recipe ideas to try. I’m going to try the Lemon Brocolli Fettucine tonight! I love that it has all of the nutritional information.

Hi I just found your blog, I love it. I love the PFK website too. They are both saved to my favorites now. I want to try the oatmeal pancakes. I printed it out so we can have them tomorrow morning!

My favorite meal idea is the Turkey Burgers & Rainbow Salad. It looks simple, but still healthy and tasty.

I love the Teddy Bear Birthday Cake. My 2 year old would absolutely go crazy for that one! For me though… Apply Pumpkin Muffins sound delicious!!!

Oooh, the ABC dip looks great. I’m a sucker for anything with avocado. That’s how I picked my entrée at dinner tonight!

So cute, will have to try that!
Smoothie Pops & Super Cereal Mix sounds like a great summer time snack after being at the pool, must try.

There are a lot I would love to try. I really like the peanut butter dip and the oatmeal pancakes!!

$100 in free groceries!!! Whoop whoop!!!!

We’re trying the A-B-C dip under lunchbox faves tonight. Gotta love all of that fiber!!!

They all looked great! I liked the oatmeal pancakes and the veggie fritatta. (Breakfast is my favorite!)

The Greek Penne Pasta with Shrimp looks fresh and filling!
My next choice would be the Cheesy Tomato Sandwiches.
How could anyone, young or old, not crave these?! 🙂

What a fun site!! I love the turkey veggie “sushi” – so fricking adorable!! And now I am so hungry after looking at all the pictures…

Creamy chocolate dippers. What a great alternative to all those sugar laden fruit dips they sell!

I know my daughter would love the PB Fruit Rollups! Perfect for lunches or after school snacks.

I LOVE thier website! Great lunchbox ideas! I know my son will especially love the peanutbutter and fruit roll-up. Guess that’s what I will try first!

Oh my goodness, so many yummylicious ideas to choose from and try out!!! However, the Greek Penne Pasta with Shrimp really caught my eye. Since my 2 1/2 year old enjoys shrimp, I’m sure he’d love this one, too 🙂

I would love to try those PB rollups. Lunchtime is always a hard challenge for us – dinner is always planned and goes smoothly, but I need quick and easy lunch ideas my kids will eat. I think these PB rollups are it, I may need to modify without PB for my 1 year old though…

I would love to try to make the Roasted Chicken and Vegetables recipe! Both of my kids love chicken and veggies! What a great website!

Wow! So many great dishes! I’m going to try the tuna wraps. We are big fans of wraps in our house! 🙂

I think the Fruity Pitootie Smoothie & Mozzarella Avocado Omelet combo would be a hit here. With a family of 8, every grocery dollar helps!

I have been looking for a yummy, healthy pancake recipe! I am going to make the Super Duper Oatmeal Pancakes! My kids love everything that is in them….so I am sure they will love it! Thanks!
