Hi There! It’s Toria from The Step Stool Chef.  My 7-year-old son and I are always looking for fun, easy to follow ideas that empower kids to be more independent in the kitchen.  We love to find easy to follow recipes kids can try at home.  This sweet potato bar was actually my son’s idea after we had so much fun making the Sweet Potato and Apple Soup.

The sweet potato bar was so simple that I am surprised that we haven’t tried it sooner.  Simply start with a baked sweet potato then have fun with different toppings.  You can even decide to cook the sweet potato in a slow cooker.  Just remember to scrub and clean the potato which is a great task for kids.

Sweet potatoes were one of my kids first foods as babies and they have loved them ever since.  Plus, the bar set up allows them to experiment with different flavors and the opportunity to decide how they want their food to taste.   I love that everyone can serve themselves…even my little 2-year old could get in on the fun.
