Strawberry Mango Bubble Tea Recipe

There is a drink shop that started a few years ago near us that became really popular really quick.  They basically only sell drinks and cookies and people would wait in line for 45 minutes to get something at this shop!  They have expanded now and so the wait time is way less and it is not such a novelty anymore.   One thing they have is called Bubble Tea.  It is basically a creamy smoothie with bobas in it.  Bobas are little round balls made out of tapioca.  They are chewy and take on the flavor of whatever you have them in.  You drink a bubble tea with a fat straw to suck them up with.   Definitely something different and definitely fun!!  You can also do a mixture of the tapioca bobas and bobas that are filled with fruit juice.  Our recipe today is Strawberry Mango Bubble Tea.  A fun way to serve fruit to your kids!!

This is what bobas look like before you cook them.  To make them soft, you boil in water for 5 minutes.  They will turn black and shiny, soften right up, and you can add them to your bubble tea!  There are different colors of bobas if you want to add different colors. We just boiled ours in water, but if you want to add more flavor, you can boil in 100% juice. We bought our bobas on Amazon.

Our strawberry mango bubble tea is just strawberries, mango and milk.   Our fruit was super sweet and so we didn’t need any extra sweetener.   This Strawberry Mango Bubble Tea Recipe is great because you can add other things, use other fruits and have fun creating your own flavors of bubble tea!

The other important thing when making bubble tea is that you need a fat straw!  Your kids will think it is fun to drink bubble tea because they will get a surprise every time they take a drink!

I do think have kids, but I love this website! I had no idea that you could buy boba to make bubble tea yourself, I definitely need to try to find some!

Do you know if Bobas are healthy? I was wondering if they have any nutritional benefits or disadvantage? Thanks! Btw, my family and I live off this site…. We love it!!

Bobas are typically made from tapioca which is made from the root of a plant. It is primarily starch, so you’re getting mostly just carbohydrates. There is a very small amount of iron in them. So basically they are just in there for texture variation and for something fun! The nutrition value comes from the fruit you put in the drink 🙂 And thank you for being a reader!!

We found them on Amazon (link above) and you can also make your own by just mixing tapioca starch and water. I found a couple of tutorials on Youtube. 🙂

I made this, and I boiled the boba for 5 minutes, but they were quite chewy and had no taste to them. The instructions on the package said that after it boils for 5 minutes, then it should be cooked for another 5-8 minutes. I’m wondering if I should have followed that step. My kids didn’t care for the chewy texture of the boba.

Danelle – I only cook mine for 5 minutes and they are chewy, but that is how I have always had them and we really like the texture! I have found it is definitely one of those things that you either like or you don’t though 🙂 Also – if you boil in 100% juice it tends to take on the flavor of the juice.

Ty! I’m a kid myself but I absolutely loved this! It tasted amazing and boiling boba in juice is definitely the move, thank you so so much for the delicious recipe!

My daughter stumbled upon this and we definitely want to try! (cheaper than the places making it for us). But I can’t find the link to what you used for Boba in the recipe – can you please repost it?

Why not use chia seeds instead of boba. A decent source of omega 3’s and good fiber with a little bit of protein
