We call this Apple Pop Snack, because the kids think it’s like a fun little popsicle or a sucker!
Apples by themselves are a crunchy and sweet snack that most kids love. Two of my kids love them just plain sweet slices, by my oldest won’t eat them unless they have a dip to go with it. These apple pops are a fun way to serve apples as a snack, but also add a dip and fun toppings! Kids can choose what they want to put on them and choose from a variety of healthy toppings!
Begin by slicing your apples. We like honeys-crisp and Granny Smith apples. If you want to slice your apples ahead of time, there are a few different ways you can prevent them from going brown. Check it out in this post.
Take a lollipop stick and insert in the center of each apple slice. You could also use a popsicle stick if you don’t have the other kinds. These are just a bit easier to get in the apple.
Dip each slice in yogurt, and then sprinkle on the topping of your choice for an apple pop snack. We like to use Greek yogurt because it is a bit thicker and sticks on the apple better.
Place on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Place in the freezer for 5-10 minutes or until the yogurt has slightly hardened. Don’t forget about them in the freezer though! You don’t want the apple to freeze.
These are a crunchy yummy snack full of apple goodness. They are a great alternative to sugary suckers. Apples are a great source of soluble fiber as well as vitamins and minerals.
The toppings for apple pop snacks we love are chia seeds, shredded coconut, sesame seeds, chocolate chips and cinnamon. We used both plain yogurt and strawberry yogurt. If your kids aren’t used to eating just plain yogurt, you can sweeten with just a bit of honey. My kids loved making and eating these yummy apple pops!
