Pumpkin Hummus for Kids
The perfect fall themed healthy snack– Pumpkin Hummus for Kids! It’s delicious and even looks like a cute pumpkin!

Falling for Festive
Fall is coming! And it’s filled with a million pumpkin spice desserts in the form of cupcakes, cakes, muffins, drinks, cheesecakes and don’t forget about the cookies! But if you’re looking for a healthier way to serve a fall festive snack, then reach for this Pumpkin Hummus. To make it even cuter and kid friendly, I dressed it up like a pumpkin! You can use cumber, lettuce, snap peas or any green veggie to make the stem. You can make one giant pumpkin for a party or individual ones for each kiddo’s plate.

Isn’t this time of year the best? Okay, I’m a little biased because I started dating my now husband this time last year! But still. Little kid’s halloween costumes have taken over every store, cute orange and black decor is everywhere and the weather is perfect! When leaves start to turn and I can hit the pumpkin patch I’ll be in pure heaven!

Easy Healthy Snack Time
Hummus is super simple to make if you have a food processor or a good blender. I always just dump all the ingredients into my mini blendtec jar and zip it up in a few seconds. And storing it is easy! I’ll keep it in a tupperware in the fridge and grab it whenever I need a snack on the go. But sometime I need to shake things up, so this pumpkin hummus is perfect! Speaking of on the go… you can portion out your hummus right after you make it into small tupperwares and even slice up celery sticks or carrots and put them in bags in the fridge. That way, when you’re running out the door to soccer or school you can just grab and go!

Spice as you Go
I kept the seasonings fairly mild for this recipe because not all children can handle the same amount of kick and they might not be used to these types of flavors. Just taste as you go and add more garlic, paprika and cumin as you want! And if you’re whipping this up for adults, then go for it with the spices! Even an extra squeeze of lemon juice would be great! And if this is for adults, you can serve it out of a small pumpkin. It would look gorgeous as the centerpiece on a cheese, veggie and cracker tray!

This is delicious. Have you tried freezing it?
Yes! Homemade hummus freezes great. 🙂
Presentation was great, love it. Since I’m making this for my book club and not children, I felt it needed a lot of jazzing up as you mentioned. I added a lot more garlic, a shallot, more salt, and a fair amount of curry. Very yummy and healthy.
Thanks for sharing, Patricia!
