Homemade Pear Preserves

Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
  • Stir occasionally as the sugar dissolves and the pears release their juices.
  • Continue cooking until the mixture becomes thick and syrupy and the pears are soft-- about 1 to 1 1/2 hours, depending on your fruit and the stove temperature.
  • Adjust sugar and seasoning to taste. Let cool completely, then transfer to jars or airtight containers.
  • Store in the refrigerator or freeze until ready to use.

Notes

  • Refrigerate: Store in airtight jars in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
  • Freeze: Freeze for up to 1 month. Thaw in the refrigerator before serving.
