Ingredients

For the Ham:

  • 8-10 lb fully cooked spiral-cut ham
  • 1 large orange thinly sliced into rounds
  • 1/2 cup water for roasting pan

For the Honey Orange Glaze:

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 325°F. Place ham cut-side down in a roasting pan.Gently separate the spiral slices and tuck thin orange slices between the layers throughout the ham. You don’t need to place them in every slice — spacing them every 1–2 inches works beautifully. Add ½ cup water to the bottom of the pan and cover tightly with foil.
  • Bake for 10–12 minutes per pound, until internal temperature reaches 140°F (Because spiral ham is fully cooked, you are simply reheating it).
  • While the ham bakes, combine honey, orange juice, zest, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, butter, cinnamon, cloves, and salt in a saucepan over medium heat. Simmer for 5–7 minutes until slightly thickened.
  • During the last 30 minutes of baking:
Remove foil. Carefully brush glaze all over the ham, allowing it to seep between slices and over the orange slices. Return to oven uncovered.
Baste every 10 minutes until glossy and caramelized.
  • Let rest 10–15 minutes before serving. You can leave some of the baked orange slices tucked in for presentation or remove them before serving — both options are beautiful.

Notes

  • Slice the orange very thin so it softens fully while baking.
  • Remove seeds to avoid bitterness.
  • For deeper citrus flavor, add a second orange.
  • If the top browns too quickly, tent loosely with foil.
