Ingredients

Serve With

  • 2 cup berries strawberries, blueberries, raspberries
  • 4 tablespoon maple syrup, pure

Instructions

  • Whisk the eggs, milk, vanilla, and salt together in a wide, shallow container.
  • Slice the bread into slightly thicker slices that sandwich bread.
  • Heat large skillet or griddle, and melt butter.
  • Quickly dip the bread slices in the batter, making sure they're not in too long and getting over-soaked.
  • Cook on medium heat, cooking both sides until golden brown and crisp.
  • Serve with fresh fruit and drizzled with maple syrup.

Notes

If you want to make savory french toast, leave the vanilla out and season the batter with salt and pepper.
To add some sweet flavor depth,  grate some nutmeg and add a pinch or two of cinnamon, all spice and/or ginger into the batter.
