Pink Smoothies
Someday, when I have some free time, I’ll have one page where I link to all our smoothie recipes. So, until then, here’s another:
- 4 oz silken tofu
- 1 cup POM juice (pomegranate juice)
- 1 cup frozen berries

Here is why we like Tofu:
- Its one of the only plant sources of protein that contains all essential amino acids (the silken variety contains 5 grams of protein for every 30 calories!
- low in fat
- contains heart healthy isoflavones
Here is why we like POM juice:
- Pomegranate juice is a great source of antioxidants. I was actually just tested on antioxidants in my nutrition class yesterday. (they stabilize free radicals that damage cell membranes and steal electrons!)
- pomegranate juice is good for your heart
- Good for your blood vessels
- May inhibit cancer formation
- Has been shown to clean plaque out of your arteries.
- studies show pomegranate juice helps with depression as well as improves bone mass.

One last note on Pomegranate juice. When we received some before, my kids loved it! We took some bottles hiking, and the drank it down. POM just sent us some more, and they didn’t like it this time! That’s kids for you! Professional flip floppers! But in smoothies, and popsicles, they did drink, and love it!! The best way to get over the flip flopping, is buying it more often. When my kids liked it that one summer, we should have kept buying it. But you know, we do what we can do!
*POM sent us this juice for review!
I love POM juice! This looks like a great and easy smoothie – definitely one we’ll try soon!
I’ve never tried POM juice. It looks good though. What would you suggest if someone doesn’t like tofu? Is there something that is similar in taste and benefits?
I love POM juice. I used it in a chicken recipe once and it was great. I’ll have to look for that recipe again.
I am not a fan of tofu. I just can’t get past the way it looks and the texture. I’m just as bad as kids. I am not good about trying new foods. I’m also not sure how I feel about soy.
I keep hearing that soy affects the thyroid level.. I have hypo. you have any idea? Thnx!
How long would this keep in the fridge? I have a toddler and she won’t be able to drink all of it at once.
Sorry Hayley.. I haven’t tried it. My kids drink it too fast. I’m sure it would be fine though. Let me know if it turns out.
I have hypothyroid too, and eat soy all the time. I feel better than ever!
Christy=If you find it, let me know! You really don’t know there is tofu in this smoothie. I promise, you would NEVER know! And there is bad press about soy, but we love it!
Kim- I would suggest giving it a try! You can’t tell there is tofu in it. PLUS….its a great protien for food storage. Until you open it, it can sit in your pantry- the boxed silken type.
Ah, I good way to slip in some tofu. I like the idea of another smoothy idea.
