We blended these up in a food processor until it was WELL combined, and then pressed the bars into a pan to chill. Once chilled, we ate them! (full recipe below)

Is the recipe dairy and soy free?
@michele, the chocolate powder wouldn’t be considered dairy free- but the rest is.
These look great! But my son has a nut allergy. Do you think I could sub pumpkin or sunflower seeds for cashews?
@katie, you can try- I’ve had the most luck with making nobake bars when the seeds are roasted! They seem to blend up better with more oils released.
Can i use coconut oil in place of coconut butter?
Yes Puja! I actually adapted the recipe from another one I use, which calls for coconut oil
Where do you find coconut butter?
@Rachel, I found it right by the coconut oil. But I’ve seen several bloggers posting videos and tips on making your own. It’s pretty much blended up coconut flesh!
Where can I buy Kidzshake in Australia? Thanks
Hi Bron You can contact them at [email protected] to get foreign shipping prices, or perhaps a shared shipping price with others from your country.
Could you substitute coconut oil if you don’t have coconut butter?
Yes you can Jenn- the recipe I adapted this from used coconut oil.
Hi! Is this an American product? I am in Australia and I have never heard of it, but it looks great for my super fussy 8 year old!
Jodi- it is from America, but the founder is from Australia! Contact them at [email protected] to get foreign shipping prices, or perhaps a shared shipping price with others from your country.
I’m sure ny 4 kids would love this!
It looks like a very good product! I really like the digestive enzymes in it but u are saying there is no casein and on the website says they all have milk protein! I am trying to avoid casein in our diet!
Andrea- the casein is removed in the drying ad separation of the proteins. The whey is undenatured (cold extracted)
Can you explain what the lohan extract ingredient is? Thank you.
Hi April: Lohan is a natural sweetener derived from monkfruit. The monkfruit is grown in Canada.
I made this and used 3 tblspns of cacao instead of the kidzshake…delicious! !! Also I encourage everyone to make their own coconut butter. It is tooooo easy.
I’m glad they posted your comment. The kidzshake is not dairy free. The Cocoa powder is a great substitution.
I don’t like the flavour of coconut..does coco nut oil tastes a lot ?? ……or is it kindda…neutral…..like canola…I guess The butter as made out of the flesh ….it must have a strong coconut taste……..musntn’t it?
Julieta- the chocolate, nuts, and dates have a much stronger flavor than the coconut. I wouldn’t say it tasted like coconut at all.
Hi! I wonder if the bars will remain hard without the cold in the fridge. I wanted to send them to school as a snack . It looks yummy. Thanks!
They will definitely last all morning without staying in the fridge Monica. I had some out on the counter all day, and they were still fine. It was just after that initial chilling time. Of course, if the home or school is TOO warm, it might be a problem.
These look yummy! My picky eater wants to try them 🙂 What kind of food processor do you use to make them?
@katH I have a cuisinart food processor.
I think my daughter would love these. Quick question, she takes a multivitamin daily. Do you think that this would be too many vitamins for her in addition to the normal vitamin she takes? I’ve heard of overdoing it.
You can over do it @lauren- I wouldn’t do both personally.
Hi Amy, I followed your recipe 1:1 – Kids shake chocolate flavored, coconut butter.. everything (I didn’t roast the cashews – it might be worth mentioning). The result is a sticky toffee like dough which is very difficult to cut, and of course to eat.. It’s still very tasty but hardly resembles the neat solid bars in the picture above. I’m keeping it in the freezer with hope that it will harden and re-texturize but it remains the same. Any thoughts of what went wrong? should I try 6 tablespoons of coconut oil next time? I’d appreciate your input.
Hi Rose- I actually used coconut butter. Did you use coconut oil?
No, I used coconut butter.. it was solid and I heated it up a little using indirect heat before adding the coconut butter to the food processor.
So, I didn’t have roasted cashews either. But I do know I processed the heck out of it until I thought my food processor was going to burn up! I kept doing it until it was super super smooth. And then, It was super oily, almost like a puddle on top of the bars. Then, we chilled it, when it came out it was fairly easy to slice and eat. We stored them on the counter/in the pantry, not chilled, and they maintained their texture. So, my best advice is to process it longer to really get those nuts to turn into a “butter”.
Hi! These recipes look amazing! But, since the powder you use in this recipe is not Dairy Free (it contains Whey), the recipe really should not be listed under the Dairy Free Special Diets section. Otherwise, I would definitely make these bars with Cocoa Powder and some vanilla.
This is true! Not sure why I selected that category. Must have been thinking of using only cocoa! I’ll fix it now.
I made these tonight and they are divine!!!!! I love them! Thank you! I made my own coconut butter–soooooo easy! I did end up having to add about 1 tablespoon of water and about a teaspoon of maple syrup to the recipe to make it less crumbly and they came out perfectly. I made them into little balls instead of bars. They are going to be a great snack to make over and over again! I used Creamy Chocolate Fudge Orgain Organic Protein Powder. It’s dairy free, soy free, gluten free lactose free and non gmo & I buy it at Costco.
That sounds awesome Holly! I’ll have to look for that at my Costco!
