My 5 year old will literally only eat apples if she has something to dip them in.  And then she will sit down and eat an entire sliced apple!  This dip is sweet, but also slightly tangy from the yogurt, and really really delicious!  Of course you can dip other fruit in it, but apples are definitely are favorite with this dip.  Plus there is just something about Fall that says caramel apples to me (and my kids!).  While this dip does have sugar in it, we like to have it as a treat occasionally.  We believe that balance is important and letting your kids enjoy sweets occasionally is a part of that balance for us!  And this dip is so much better than the stuff you can buy with all of the artificial colors, flavors and corn syrup!

This dip is incredibly easy to make and requires only one pot!   Put all of your ingredients in the pot, except for the yogurt.  Cook on medium-low heat until all of the sugar is dissolved.   If you feel like it needs more sweetness you can add more maple syrup, but I actually prefer it with less.  Cook this until you have a nice thick consistency.  Remove from the stove and add your yogurt.  Stir until combined.  This dip will thicken as it cools, and should be stored in the fridge.  It isn’t quite the same consistency as caramel because of the yogurt.

We loved this Caramel Yogurt Dip Recipe with a more tart apple, but a nice Honeycrisp goes well with anything right??  Slice up some apples and serve it with this dip. We hope you enjoy this dip as much as we did!

  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoon maple syrup, pure
  • 1/4 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup yogurt, plain


  • Combine all ingredients except yogurt in a saucepan.
  • Cook and stir constantly over medium-low heat until sugar has dissolved and the consistency has thickened.
  • Remove from heat and stir in yogurt until combined.
  • Transfer to a serving bowl. This will get thicker as it cools and can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.
  • Serve with apples.

Just wondering what 6 is in “6 plain yogurt”. 6 teaspoons, tablespoons, cups? I guess we could add until satisfied just wanted to clarify the yogurt amounts from above.
