Dole Pineapple Mango Smoothie

Green smoothies are a great way to add fiber to your families diet. This is our last post for Fiber week!  And since I’m currently in California learning all about the Dole Brand, I figured this smoothie would be a great way to end fiber week!  (to see more of our fiber week ideas, head to our Facebook page and search #fiberweek)

I’ve always been a fan of frozen fruits and vegetables. Living in Utah, you’ve got to be! Otherwise getting all your fruits and veggies in a day is quite difficult.  But with the modern miracle of freezing foods immediately after harvesting, you can literally get all the benefits and vitamins as you would eating fresh fruits and vegetables.   Not only that, there are two fruits I actually like frozen BETTER than fresh!  That would be frozen cherries, and frozen mango.  Fresh mango has a texture that I kind of hate- but frozen mango is sweet and crunchy and I love it!  In fact, I’ve been snacking on bowls of frozen mango a lot lately, like chips!  Plus, I love buying frozen mango for smoothies!  Did you know you could also get pineapple frozen?  I never think about it, because when I think of buying pineapple, I automatically think canned.  But frozen pineapple is out there as well, and it’s perfect for smoothies!

So, for this tropical smoothie, we combined frozen mango, frozen pineapple, spinach, and milk! That’s it.  There is 4 grams of fiber per cup from this smoothie- a great way to start the day.  I learned in school that kids need 5 grams of fiber plus their age. So, if your child is 5 years old, they should have 10 grams of fiber. If your child is 7 years old, they should have 12 grams. Make sense?  So for some little ones, this smoothie would get them half way there!

I’ll be writing up a post soon about all the cool things Dole is doing. But what stood out to me the most is their brand is 99% GMO free, and they will be labeling their packages to reflect that in the next few years. The only food they can not source GMO free is papaya- but there are very few papaya farms whose seeds haven’t been contaminated with GMO. A very difficult crop to get GMO free. But everything else in their supply is.

I love Dole Frozen fruit the best because I can get the cherries, mangoes, pineapple, strawberries, and blueberries packaged without added sugar.  Plus, they are so close to fresh as they can freeze their fruit within 1 day of harvesting.  As I said, I often get the mango, and I buy the pineapple one when I want to make smoothies.

Dole Pineapple Mango Smoothie

This flavorful tropical green smoothie is a great way to add fiber to your families diet.

  • 1 c milk, soy milk or almond milk
  • 1 c dole frozen pineapple
  • 2 c dole frozen mango
  • 2 c spinach


  • Pour milk into a blender.
  • Add pineapple, mango, and spinach.
  • Cover with blender lid and blend to combine. If blender stops turning, add a little more milk. If desired add a couple of ice cubes to make the smoothie very cold and icy.

Optional Additions

  • A small container of yogurt
  • Add a scoop of your favorite vanilla protein powder
  • Add 1 tablespoon of any of the following: 
    – chia seeds
    – flax seeds
    – natural flaked coconut
    – peanut or almond butter

yes, this is a great snack and if i hadn’t read the name, i would have said “ew, who would drink that?!” and thats the problem with teens’, they judge by the sight so i would add some different colours by adding berries or other colourful foods. Banana’s actually add a great tang! – :3 T4girl

I’m going to try this recipe with coconut milk this weekend – I can’t wait! Tropical smoothie here I come!
