My baby is a teenager today! The big 13! During our family prayer this morning he said, “We’re grateful that I could finally be a teenager..” I accidently laughed in the middle of the prayer!
Anyway- besides candy, my son’s favorite food is anything breakfast. So, I made some French Toast for his birthday breakfast, and added some warm cinnamon apples to the top. It was easy and delicious!
- 4 slices whole wheat bread
- 3 eggs
- 1/4 cup low fat milk
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
Whisk eggs, milk, cinnamon, vanilla, and nutmeg in a shallow dish. Dip bread and turn to coat both sides with egg mixture. Place on a hot griddle and cook both sides until egg is cooked.
Apple Pie Topping
- Slice or chop 1 apple and put in a microwave safe dish.
- Add 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon to apple
- Add 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg to apple
- Add 1 tablespoon of water to apple in dish.
- Cover and microwave on high for 1 minute.
- Take out, stir, return cover and microwave for 2-3 more minutes
I cut circles out of the French Toast to stack them for our “cake”. But, don’t worry all the French Toast scraps were cut up and eaten too! When my kids STILL want their food cut up, it doesn’t matter if they are scraps or whole pieces to begin with. Ha ha.
ADVICE FOR PARENTS WITH TEENAGERS! I don’t know why I hadn’t looked into this before, but I got on the website for my internet provider and saw this feature I didn’t notice before:
- Free server-side content filtering
Duh! I called right up and asked them to enable the content filtering. Then I tried to access a site I did NOT want my teenage boy looking at, and I got the message “Access Denied!” HOORAY!! Everyone should enable this feature if your service provider offers it!!
