  • 2 cup oats, dry
  • 3 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 medium (3″ dia) apple
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 cup applesauce, unsweetened
  • 1/4 cup, chopped walnuts


  • Using oats, water and salt, cook oats according to package directions.  (If desired, steelcut oats may be used as well, just be sure to follow package instructions).
  • Chop apples and stir them into oats during the last few minutes of cooking.  
  • Stir in cinnamon, applesauce and walnuts just before serving.
