- 2 cup oats, dry
- 3 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 medium (3″ dia) apple
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 cup applesauce, unsweetened
- 1/4 cup, chopped walnuts
- Using oats, water and salt, cook oats according to package directions. (If desired, steelcut oats may be used as well, just be sure to follow package instructions).
- Chop apples and stir them into oats during the last few minutes of cooking.
- Stir in cinnamon, applesauce and walnuts just before serving.
