These look fantastic! When I was a teen I worked at a dairy bar (ice cream stand) and we made these for the poor lactose-intolerant folks dipped in hot fudge & rolled in nuts. Too bad there’s so many carbs in bananas!!

I’m laughing at that first picture- It looks like raw chicken tenders!
I think we need to try these though. The others look tasty!

I sold frozen chocolate bananas at my shaved ice stand last year. I found a really good homemade recipe for Magic Shell that worked great on the bananas. It was 2/3 chocolate chips, 1/3 coconut oil. If you have some coconut oil laying around, try it! It is really yummy and so much better for you than the Magic Shell at the stores.

Laura- Thanks for the tip! We’ll be trying it for sure.
Beth -I thought they were good. Liked the coconut best! I do think they tasted like banana creamies. Nice description.

Yum, yum, YUM! I tried my frist frozen banana (chocolate dipped and covered in peanuts) a few years ago at Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. I fell in love! It’s like icecream inside, but it’s really just a banana. Doesn’t get better!

Amy, this reminded me of how they make chocolate covered raspberries at bear lake. I watched the kid do them- the raspberries were frozen so they set up right away. Too bad the kid was wearing this gross looking cast or I would have bought some…. but at least I know how to make them myself.

You inspired me! I am eating my homemade frozen banana with semi-sweet chocolate and chopped pecans right now. It tastes amazing!

I skipped the wax paper and sticks. I just took my bananas, put them on fondue forks/skewers, put them in a pyrex baking dish with a plastic lid, froze, melted semi-sweet chocolate and brushed it on each banana with a spatula, sprinkled on the crushed nuts, put back into the glass pyrex container, then froze overnight. They popped right out, chocolate and all, because the glass doesn’t stick. No waste, really easy 🙂

Okay – more details!!! I need more.
Takes awhile for the bananas to freeze but they thaw so fast. I think my chocolate was too hot so some are lumpy. Plus my chocolate must’ve been too shallow ’cause it was hard to get the banana all the way dipped. The yogurt tasted yummy but never completely froze so I was nervous to put anything on it. HELP!

Hi Amy!
They do thaw quickly! All I can say is the more frozen the bananas are, the easier they are to dip. It’s been awhile, but I think I ended up using a plate (super shallow) and rolling the banana on melted chocolate on the plate, instead of trying it in a bowl. I also used a spoon to get it all over the banana. I don’t think too hot would make it lumpy, but I would experiment with different chocolate. Some chocolate melts smooth and wonderful, and some is always lumpy to me. You can definitely get what you pay for in the chocolate department.
What if you tried slicing bananas into discs, freezing them, stirring the discs into chocolate and freezing again.. then stick a stick in the bottom to look like a lollipop?? That seems easier than dipping a whole banana. Hmmmm, I just might have to try that for the blog. I can picture them looking like those popular cake pops??
I think the bottom line is keep experimenting.. It seems like it took me making these several times before I liked the way they turned out.
Good luck!!

Yeah, you don’t need to, but I said in the post that it helps to freeze it first. I just melted semi-sweet chocolate chips.
Good luck!
Let me know how it goes.

I will make them for my son’s BD party. Can I serve them on room temperature or kids eat them cold? Thnx

Hi! Have you ever tried a double dip? I’m thinking of making these for a pre-game meal for my daughter’s Team…. I wanted to try a yogurt dip then freeze, and then do a second dip in chocolate and re-freeze. I’m not sure if this would work. Any advice is welcomed. Thank you!

This is great, delicious. Once i started freezing bananas, i’ve never looked back haha And we used a nanarack to freeze them easier.

Hi Ida, thanks for pointing out the missing section! I added instructions for making these pops in the post.
