1. Season the roast with salt and pepper to taste.
2. Brown on all sides in a large skillet over high heat, about 4 minutes per side.
3. Place the roast in the slow cooker and add the soup mix and water.
4. Cover and cook on Low setting for 8 to 10 hours.
5. Add the cut carrots, sliced onion, potatoes (cubed), and cut celery when there is 3 hours left. (You can cook them longer, they will just be a bit mushy)
This goes well with a side salad and sliced apples!
