Hoot Hoot: A Healthy Snack fit for your little Owls

I've been a long time reader of Christy's blog Super Heroes and Princesses.  She has great ideas for teaching your preschoolers with fun books and activities.   This week she was reading a book about Owls and came up with this healthy snack to go along with their story.  I thought it was adorable, so we made some for ourselves, although we didn't read the book.

owlsnacks What we used:

  • Whole wheat bread
  • Sliced bananas
  • Nut butter (peanut or almond butter)
  • Cashew (for the nose)
  • Toasted Oat cereal for the hair)
  • chocolate chips for the eyeballs
  • The lid from a mason jar to cut the circle.  And then a notch cut into the top.

owlsnacks2 Thanks Christy!

You are so creative! These are awesome. I think you could also use whole wheat English muffins if you don't feel like cutting out a circle. Thanks for the great idea.
