Fruity FroYo Bites deliver the goodness of yogurt and fresh fruit in a fun way, without added sugars.

FroYo Bites. These are creamy, full of fruit and a snack kids love!

We love yogurt! It’s filled with protein, calcium, and probiotics for healthy digestion. But commercially-available fruit-flavored yogurts are usually too heavy on added sugars for my liking. And I don’t know about your kids, but mine sometimes shy away from chunks of fruit in store-bought yogurts. (Kids. I know.)

So we invented these fun and frosty FroYo Bites for a fruity yogurt that’s much lower in sugar, and delicious to everyone–even those kids with texture issues.

Making these frozen treats is super easy. We blended plain Greek yogurt with two types of berries (strawberries, then blueberres) and poured the flavored mixtures into ice cube trays. (We used these trays, for perfectly square treats.) Then we froze them for a couple of hours, and they were ready to eat!

Here’s a tip: don’t freeze them all day long, or they’ll be too solid to bite through. For soft and creamy Froyo Bites, two-three hours is perfect. If they DO freeze all the way through, just let them rest out of the freezer for a few minutes before serving. They’ll soften right up.

We love eating these just like they are, but they’re also yummy dipped in toppings. We put a toothpick through the middle, then tried ours in homemade granola, wheat germ and flax seeds. Wheat germ was actually our favorite! We didn’t get to try crushed almonds, but I bet they would be delicious, too.

Any way you serve them, these make a fun and healthy frozen treat on a hot day.

You could also put it in a plastic bag, cut a hole in the corner and squeeze it into the holes that way.

My son loves yogurt too and I’ve been trying to find different ways to dress it up! Perfect! We would love them plain as well!

Those look yummy! I too despise yogurt with fruit, yet enjoy both separately. I can add fresh fruit to yogurt and enjoy it like that; it’s when the fruit comes in it already that it’s nasty. My family laughs at me because I call it booger fruit! It truly is just like boogers.

Anyone have luck with almond or coconut yogurt? My LO can do dairy or soy but is getting the molars in so I think they’d be great!!

I was also thinking that you might be able to use the silicone baby food freezer trays and just fill them half way up as a means of reusing them once you don’t need puréed baby food any longer…

It makes 10-12 cubes of each flavor, depending on how big your ice cube tray or the mold you use is.

Yes. You can definitely use frozen fruit – if it is too thick just add a little bit more yogurt or milk to thin it out.

How long do they last when taken out of the freezer or do you have to eat them straight out of the freezer?

Kids liked them. They were a little tart to me, I think next time I’m going to try with vanilla yogurt. They work great for smoothies too.

They’re easy and tasty! Not as creamy as we expected–a little icy–but a nice treat. I think we’d be more inclined to make these with sticks so they aren’t as messy to eat.

Fun and easy! You can use just about any fruit, fresh or frozen. Purée fruit in a blender with a bit of milk, yogurt or juice then mix it with the 1C yogurt for the recipe. Also ice cube trays, molds and mini baking pans come in so many different shapes. The variations for flavors and shapes are endless!
