Another Dessert! Am I crazy? What is wrong with me? Should I change this blog to “healthy desserts your kids might like?” Or, “Something sweet yet a little healthy so I don’t feel guilty for feeding my kids a complete diet of sugar?” I have about 5 more “healthy desserts” waiting in que to try on my kids. I’m a little obsessed.
Idea of the day: My mom gave me this idea a few years ago, and have only made it for myself and not my children, until today. I cut and peeled an apple. Put in in a bowl. Sprinkled with a touch of brown sugar, cinnamon, and a Tablespoon of corn starch. Put it in the microwave for one minute, stirred it, and put it in one more minute. It tastes like a cross between a baked apple and yummy warm applesauce. I offered a bite to cereal boy. He loved it and wanted the rest of the bowl, but he also likes applesauce, so it wasn’t too much of a stretch.
I walked into flip-floppers room and offered her and her friend a bite. Flip flopper tasted it, but gave me the tongue! That meant she was not satisfied with my “treat”. And her friend said, “I don’t want to try it. I actually don’t like cooked fruit.”
I just bought some brown rice the other day, and have plans to try it on them tomorow. Somewhat bad timing however because the flip flopper, true to her name, has just informed me she hates rice. I said, “why, you liked it before.” She replies, “it’s too mushy.” She must have some sort of texture issues going on.
