Did you know Avocados are also known as Alligator Pears? (Wikipedia) If you think about it, it really does look like an alligator pear. Your kids may like this name better than ‘avocado’.
I don’t believe we’ve talked about Avocado’s enough on this site! Which is a shame, because we are currently addicted to this miracle fruit (or vegetable.. I’m not picky about categories). Your kids health will benefit greatly from adding avocados to their diet!
Health Benefits of Avocados:
- Contains heart healthy Oleic acid
- The special carotenoids in Avocados were shown to inhibit cancer cell growth. But when the carotenoids were isolated and tested, they did not inhibit cancer. Which concludes that it is the WHOLE avocado that has the health benefits! These carotenoids are fat soluble, so the fat in the avocado assists the delivery of the nutrients into the blood stream.
